Mark Raymond, Jr. is a native New Orleanian and founding principal of Universal Development Consulting. In 2016, he endured a tragic injury leaving him a Wheelchair-bound C5 quadriplegic.
Upon reentering society as a wheelchair user, he saw countless examples of how discriminatory the built world can be for those with disabilities. Now, he is a tireless advocate for the disabled community, pushing New Orleans to become a more equitable and accessible city for all. Mark founded UDC with a personal mission to inspire architects, developers, and civic planners to go beyond ADA and create more functional and inclusively-built environments.
Mark is an alumnus of Brother Martin high school, followed by Xavier University in Louisiana where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. He serves on numerous boards, including Vice-Chair of the Regional Transit Authority, Vice-Chair of the City Council Street Renaming Commission, and Co-Chair of the Transportation Subcommittee for the Governor’s Advisory Council on Disability Affairs.
